Employee Spotlight: Dana Farrall

Each month, CDR features a spotlight of one of our employees. This month, we are highlighting Senior Account Executive, Dana Farrall.

What is your favorite thing about working at CDRFG? There are several reasons I love working at CDR and have been here 12 years. If I must pick just one, I would say I love that every day is a different experience. There is always something new to learn in the everchanging world of direct marketing.

What is your guilty pleasure? I enjoy reading, I just started reading in the past few years, before that I didn’t like to read at all. Now once I start a book, I can’t put it down until I am done. Life around me stands still until I am done.

Who do you donate to or volunteer with? I like to give back by volunteering. Before I had kids, I would volunteer for Christmas in April. When doing so, I helped members of my community fix up homes for the less fortunate. In addition, for the past two years I have been volunteering at the Calvert County Toy for Tots by sorting toys that were donated and providing support when recipients come to pick up toys for their children. I am also a monthly donor to a child/boy in Nicaragua through Food For The Hungry.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? I love seafood, but if I had to eat one meal for the rest of my life it would be crabs. During the summer we have them nearly every weekend. The best part is going out and catching them and then sitting down to eat what we were able to find.

Where was the last place you traveled (for fun or for work)? I recently attended the 88th Annul Hollywood Parade in LA. It was an amazing experience and something I hope to be able to do again. I even got to meet Erik Estrada!

Where is one city or country you would love to visit?  I recently learned that I love to travel as long as it isn’t alone. My favorite places to visit are anywhere there is sun and a beach. One of my favorite destinations is Punta Cana and I hope to be able to go back there soon.

What keeps you motivated?  My family is my motivation. I have two wonderful kids and I want them to lead by example. I try to fulfill this by showing them that hard work and dedication pays off.

What was your first job and what did it teach you? My first job was at 7-Eleven. It was before I had a car, so I had to walk over a mile to and from work each way. I learned a lot about customer service and dealing with difficult people.

Tell us about your pets? I live on a small farm and have cows, chickens and a dog. We have raised pigs and turkeys as well, but do not currently. Last winter we had a baby cow whose mother died, and we had to bottle feed it until it was old enough to eat solid food. Living on a farm is hard work, but worth it.
