SENIOR ANALYST (OPEN TO REMOTE) - MOORE, CDR DIVISION

Summary

The Senior Analyst will serve as a technical and subject-matter expert responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing routine and ad hoc reports, as well as communicating actionable insights to audiences inside and outside CDR. The Senior Analyst will work in collaboration with internal and external partners to help inform strategic direction around campaign and effort projections, segmentation opportunities, reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and review. The ideal candidate must be a strategic thinker able to work in fast-paced, creative, entrepreneurial environment; comfortable with a varied set of data sources and reporting tools; and passionate about connecting data with business results for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides standard, ad hoc, and custom reporting using CDR’s proprietary products, developed and managed with Microsoft Power BI.
  • Presents and explains complicated concepts and results to non-technical internal and external audiences.
  • Works with agency team members and partners to interpret results, make strategic recommendations, and plan new solutions.
  • Provides technical work products, substantive analysis, and consultation across multiple client teams.
  • Collects and analyzes datasets using Power BI (primary Business Intelligence tool), Excel, Access, R, SQL, and other tools and languages as required.
  • Develops, maintains, and troubleshoots custom dashboards and reports.
  • Provides ongoing updates to program- and campaign-level projections.
  • Helps to inform strategy for randomized testing and audience segmentation.
  • Serves as an internal resource for technical and substantive training and questions.
  • Identifies areas for innovation or process improvement, performs independent research, and develops innovative approaches, processes, or code.
  • Stays abreast of nonprofit industry trends and research.

 

Skills:

  • Familiarity with APIs and experience accessing and processing remote data.
  • Experience with data warehousing and data manipulation using SQL variants strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with fundraising metrics, file segmentation techniques, and direct marketing strategy preferred.
  • Facility with reporting platforms that sit atop multiple database and non-database sources (such as Power BI, Tableau, Sisense, etc.).
  • Proven judgment and communication skills in a client services environment, including clear presentation of technical concepts, informing, and advocating for marketing strategies, responsiveness, managing project scope, and addressing problems head on.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfort working across a wide array of client data and reporting platforms.
  • Comfort with a fast-paced agency environment and a variety of client service tasks.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects while working independently and on teams.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal staff.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, marketing, economics, management information systems, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. (Additional work experience may satisfy the education requirement.)

Experience:

  • Three or more years of experience as a marketing data analyst with a non-profit organization or an agency that provides direct marketing services to non-profit organizations.
  • Proven results in the development and ongoing upkeep of visual dashboards in an Online App environment using specifically Microsoft Power BI required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Power BI desktop, with advanced knowledge and experience loading and transforming data within the tool, and writing and editing DAX programming
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization in Excel, MS Access, and reporting platforms that sit atop multiple database and non-database sources required.
  • Proven ability to perform analytic tasks (including but not limited to data mining, segmentation, randomized test design, forecasting, data visualization, etc.) and create meaningful outputs.
  • Experience with multiple CRMs used in nonprofit fundraising, such as Aegis, DMI, Blackbaud CRM, Salesforce, and Raiser’s Edge, as well as eCRMs and tools such as Luminate, Classy, Salsa, ActiveCampaign, and MailChimp. Familiar with digital advertising and Google Analytics.
  • Knowledge of direct marketing across multiple channels, including but not limited to email, digital advertising, website, direct mail, and connected TV.
